Paige Pearson, Delta Gamma – I love the environment because it is a miracle that a planet can sustain so much life and allow so many different creatures to thrive and flourish. The planet provides us everything we have and it provides more beauty than anything else in the world. I never feel more at peace than I do when I am in nature and taking in the world around me, and I truly believe that all of life’s problems would be solved if we broke down all infrastructure and moved into nature in tents and sustainable living communities where we found ourselves to be one with nature instead of to be opposing it in our everyday lives.
Cassie Moore, Delta Gamma – Not only is the environment gorgeous but it gives us everything and we wouldn’t be here without it so we better treat it right. I love you Mother Nature, you’re the best.
Maraya Bidjerano, Delta Gamma – I love the environment because we were born in nature, so we are one with nature. There’s a part of us that is deeply rooted to connect with the tall grass that sways in the wind, the fresh air our lungs take in, and the details on the bark of trees. It’s truly incredible that our earth has given us so much, with not just resources but inspiration and community. Trails, parks, etc are my go-to, and I’m forever thankful.
Joie Graves, Delta Gamma – I love nature because there are beautiful things like the state of Michigan, the Great Lakes, and UNREAL rock formations. I never knew how much I loved my state until I explored its unique, incredible nature
Lauren Trombetta, Delta Gamma – As the daughter of two geologists, my parents frequently reminded me that “if the Empire State building’s height is the age of our Earth, human existence occupies just the dew on the antenna.” It can be easy to forget the immense history and natural phenomena of our Earth, so protect it!
Holly O’Brien, Delta Gamma – I love the earth because of it’s amazing ability to heal. When I’m in nature the immense beauty reminds me that my problems are not as important as I may believe and connecting with nature relaxes me.
Blythe Collins, Delta Gamma – feel more at home in the ocean than I do on land most times. Glassy blue waves filling the space between me and the horizon have a way of making me realize the smallness of my existence, the tide reminding me that nature is so much more powerful than I will ever be. I can’t think of an environment in which I am more at peace than when I am surrounded by glittering sunshine on saltwater, listening to whitecaps crash in the distance.
Samantha Carroll, Delta Gamma – The earth is a pretty amazing place. With the ability humans have to basically do & build anything, there’s not much we haven’t seen. Think about this; how often do you see someone staring in awe at a building? How about gazing into the beauty of nature? I personally, have seen more people amazed at what our earth creates than what we as humans can make. The raw beauty seen only in nature, however, is the only thing we cannot recreate which is why I love the earth and our environment so much!
Elena Gardner, Delta Gamma – Being in nature while growing up gave me so much more than good memories with my family, it gave me a greater understanding of how much the earth gives us. Not even in resources necessarily, but peace of mind and knowledge. There’s so much to learn from listening to the earth and exploring all it holds! Earth day is important since it promotes the idea that we need to preserve this knowledge, not destroy it or looking for how it can most benefit the human race.
Kira Zimmerman, Delta Gamma – I’m marching in March for Science this Saturday in Washington, D.C. to show my support for sustainable living. Earth has provided humans with everything we need to survive and thrive, yet we take so much and give so little back in return. I love the environment because nature is effortlessly perfect. This earth day, and every day, I encourage myself and hope to encourage other to live more consciously and sustainably. By living in a way that has the least amount of harmful impact on Earths environment and all living things, we can reach for a more peaceful, clean and loving future.
Elizabeth Wood, Delta Gamma – I love nature because it reminds me that there is so much more to life than material worth and people’s perceptions. Nature is a reminder to us all of purity, wonder, awe, as well as the past. There is an inescapable calm and surrender that comes with an immersion in any kind of natural environment. An allowance for true ~zen~
